Frequently Asked Questions

NTPrices is a free Switch game price tracker and deals finder. We follow the eShop across every region and record the price of every Switch and Switch 2 game throughout the day – so you can see real price history, spot genuine discounts, and know whether a "sale" is actually the lowest a game has ever been.

Below are the questions we're asked most often: how our price tracking and sale alerts work, when eShop sales happen, how to compare prices across regions, and whether the Switch or Switch 2 version is cheaper. Tap any question to see the answer.

What is NTPrices?

NTPrices is a free price-comparison and deals site for the eShop. We track the current and historical prices of Switch and Switch 2 games across every eShop region, show you the lowest price a game has ever been, and let you build a wishlist so you get an email the moment a game you want goes on sale.

Is NTPrices free to use?

Yes – NTPrices is completely free. You can browse prices and view full price history without an account.

Creating a free account additionally lets you build a wishlist and receive email notifications when the games you are tracking go on sale.

How often does NTPrices update eShop prices?

NTPrices checks the eShop regularly and updates prices throughout the day, so the prices you see stay close to the live store.

Because there are millions of listings across every region, there can be a short delay between a price changing on the eShop and that change appearing on NTPrices.

What does the "lowest ever price" mean?

The lowest ever price is the cheapest price a game has ever sold for on the eShop in that region since NTPrices began tracking it.

Every game page also includes a full price history, so you can see how a game's price and discounts have changed over time and judge whether the current deal is actually a good one – or whether it's worth waiting for a bigger sale.

When is the next eShop sale?

The eShop runs new sales almost every week, plus several big seasonal sale events each year – such as the Spring, Summer, Holiday and Black Friday sales.

Exact dates are rarely announced far in advance, so the most reliable way to catch a discount is to create a free account, add games to your wishlist, and let us email you the moment they drop in price.

You can also browse our eShop Sale Archive to see every current and past eShop sale, while the NTPrices home page always lists the latest deals.

How do I get notified when a game goes on sale?

Create a free NTPrices account and add the games you want to your wishlist. When any game on your wishlist goes on sale, NTPrices emails you so you never miss a discount.

You can choose which notifications you receive at any time from your account settings.

Can I compare game prices in other eShop regions, and which region is cheapest?

Yes. NTPrices shows pricing for the same game across every eShop region, so you can quickly see which region is cheapest right now. Prices and discounts often vary a lot between regions, and the cheapest region is different for almost every game – so it's worth comparing rather than assuming one store is always best.

If you want to buy from another region, read our guide on how to buy from another region's eShop.

Is it cheaper to buy the Switch or Switch 2 version of a game?

Often, yes. The Switch and Switch 2 versions of a game can be priced and discounted independently, so one may be on sale while the other isn't.

Many titles also offer a free or paid Switch-to-Switch 2 upgrade, or are sold as a single listing that works on both consoles. NTPrices lists each version with its own current price and price history, so you can compare them side by side and buy whichever is cheapest while still being able to play on your console.

Why do some DLC entries have an "Unknown" or "Delisted" main game?

When a game is delisted from the eShop, sometimes its DLC entries are not. In these cases the DLC is left "dangling" on the store, not corresponding to any version of the base game that can be purchased digitally.

The DLC will still work with any copies of the base game that were purchased prior to de-listing, and with physical versions of the base game.

Does NTPrices have an API?

Yes. NTPrices offers a free developer API with programmatic access to Switch game prices, sales, and discounts.

See our developer documentation for the available endpoints, parameters, and how to request an API key.

Still have a question?
